There are some important changes announced in France regarding competing on (as well as owning) a standup ski. Some of the changes concern only French riders, but some are affecting foreigners who wish to compete on France Nationals (Jetcross tour).

CHANGES FOR INTERNATIONAL COMPETITORS

For a few years now Jetcross tour has been France National championship. It still remains that way in 2014, but only French riders will be eligible for the Champion of France title. What it means is thatĀ if you are not French and you were to compete on Jetcross tour and you win at the end of the season, you would NOT be a champion of France. As a foreigner, you would only be a champion of Jetcross tour. Champion of France would become the highest ranked French rider at the end of the Jetcross tour season. So, it boils down to how important for you is it to have a shot of becoming a champion of France and Jetcross tour, as opposed to "just" champion of Jetcross tour.

However, there is still a way for a foreigner to become a champion of France -- by registering with FFM (French governing body), but in that case you have to comply with everything below, as well.

CHANGES FOR FRENCH RIDERS

Here there are a lot more changes, and they revolve around registering standup skis. Basically, French government has decided that standups are polluting the environment too much and that they should be limited as far as where they can operate. Additionally, registering them will cost more and is a much more complex process. If you are French, please see Jetcross tour site for complete info on forms and regulations.
