Letter from the president of IFWA, organizing body of the Freeride World Championship:

I have just been informed that it will not be possible to have the Jetwaves event for 2014. As it is an election year in Brazil, Increased difficulty with the government has again made it a problem for the event. Its unfortunate certainly. There is interest to make another event for the final in Peru with equipment shipping sponsorship however this is not possible for this season for the reason that its an unproven event for our needs. It is on the table as a possibility to 2015.

What this means is that the Surf Slam in the USA will be the final for 2014 and with the loss of Jetwaves there will be no round dropped.

Its unclear as to the re-entry of Jetwaves for 2015 and with this in mind, we look to secure alternatives next year. While several locations have asked for a round in 2014, its not possible to make the final in an alternative location without a previous experience.

I know this is bad news for some while it works well for others. We are confident however that the standings for 2014 going into the Surf Slam will make for a challenging competition for everyone.

I personally appreciate all of your patience with regard to the Final and look forward to seeing who takes the title for this season.

Surf Slam will be the final round for 2014 and we will podium the champion there.

Good Luck to all!
